Our log cabins are ideally placed for a walk into the lovely village of Gosforth. There are a couple of routes and we can give you more information when you visit, or check out the information in the welcome folder. There are local fell walks and bridleway walks on our doorstep such as Blengdale Forest, Guards, Peagill and other routes. OS Map 89 (West Cumbria) is great if you like a map in hand!
There are pubs, a café, an award-winning restaurant and a fabulous bakery (Gosforth Bakery) where you can buy many provisions including milk and free-range eggs. They are famous for their amazing pies! Don’t go home without trying one…
The local pubs will give you a warm welcome, and the Wild Olive offers an excellent takeaway service and a great place to dine out. Yam frae Yam serves lovely coffee, cakes and savoury bakes as well as displaying art AND offering a picture framing service!
West Cumbria offers a peaceful retreat from the busier Lake District, featuring a stunning coastline, valleys, and fells. Nearby, Eskdale and Ennerdale are great for walks along charming rivers. There’s plenty of countryside to explore on foot or horseback.
Wasdale is a beautiful mountain valley over 10 miles long, home to England’s highest peak, Scafell Pike, its deepest lake, Wastwater, and one of the smallest churches, St. Olaf’s. The area is renowned for climbing and has excellent walking trails to Scafell Pike, Great Gable, Yewbarrow, and Kirk Fell.
Wastwater, voted Britain’s Best View in 2009, offers scenic strolls along the water and into the woods. Canoes, paddleboards, and rowing boats are permitted, while sailing and motorboats are not. There are plenty of cycling routes in Wasdale and nearby valleys. Something for everyone. A great place to find out more and book your adventure is West Lakes Adventure. There are so many wonderful things to do, places to visit, and welcoming cafés, pubs and restaurants to enjoy!
